Associate Professor

Dr. Mohammad Shbool

Bringing extensive experience from both academia and industry, Dr. Mohammad A. Shbool is an Associate Professor of Industrial Engineering, currently affiliated with the American University of Bahrain and The University of Jordan. He served as the Chairman of the Industrial Engineering Department at The University of Jordan during the 2023/2024 academic year. Dr. Shbool earned his Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering from the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, USA, in 2016, and is certified by the European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM).

AREAS OF EXPERTISE

Dr. Shbool has a diverse background in academia and industry. Prior to joining the American University of Bahrain, he held various academic and administrative positions, including leadership roles at The University of Jordan. He has guided undergraduate and graduate students in courses such as simulation modeling, logistics engineering, supply chain management, and engineering statistics. Before pursuing his Ph.D., he worked as a planning manager at the SWAROVSKI production factory in Jordan.

His research interests encompass simulation modeling, multi-criteria decision analysis, and machine learning applications, with a particular focus on sustainable healthcare systems, smart supply chains, and the circular economy. Currently, he is leading research on “The Role of Digital Twins and AI-Driven Simulation in Sustainable Healthcare Systems,” addressing critical challenges in healthcare efficiency and sustainability. Dr. Shbool is an active member of the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers (IISE) and the Alpha Pi Mu American Honor Society. He also served as the Faculty Advisor for the IISE chapter at The University of Jordan from 2021 to 2024, mentoring the next generation of industrial engineers.
